Cast Cha Soo Hyun ( Kim Hye Soo) was a rookie during Jae Han's time and is now an experienced police detective. He searches around and finds a walkie-talkie with the voice of police detective Lee Jae Han ( Cho Jin Woong) talking to him. Now working at the same police station where Hae Young tried to get the cops to believe him as a child, Hae Young walks out of the station one day and hears someone talking to him.
Hae Young saw a woman pick up Yoon Jung from school on the day that she went missing, but the police would not believe Hae Young and stated that a man took her. When he was young, his friend Yoon Jung was kidnapped and later found dead. Hae Young went into police work despite his deep-rooted mistrust of cops stemming from a traumatic event from his childhood. Park Hae Young ( Lee Je Hoon) is a police lieutenant who is an expert criminal profiler. “ Signal The Movie Cold Case Investigation Unit” has its faults, but in general emerges as a rather entertaining genre movie that works very well within its crime film aesthetics.The past and the present collide through a powerful walkie-talkie.

Michiko Kichise as Sakurai and Tsuyoshi Ihara as Aoki, one of the police higher ups are functionable, although their roles are among the TV elements mentioned before, particularly of the latter. Talking about cinematography, the movie is also impressive in that regard, with the various SFX working quite well here (particularly the car crash is outstanding).Īpart from the always cool Sakaguchi, Kazuki Kitamura as Ooyama also gives a very convincing performance as the poor devil in over his head. Particularly the one Saegusa has close to the end, in a rather impressive one-on-one, is truly brutal and excellently choreographed by Nobuhiko Tanaka, is probably the most memorable scene in the film, additionally showcasing Kentaro Sakaguchi's acting, along with Hiroo Yanagida's cinematography and the overall editing. Where the movie finds its true cinematic hypostasis, however, is in the plethora of action scenes, with the fact that some of the “good guys” die, working quite well in dramatic terms.
